Because of the number of empty homes in Spain Mariano Rajoy’s government is considering the possibility of changing a regulation of immigration in order to output the housing stock.
The Spanish government has stated that it would grant permanent residence to people who buy a home in Spain for a value equal to or greater than € 160,000. This measure would be addressed mainly to the newly rich people from countries like Russia, China, South America and some Arab countries with the intention of selling numerous properties in a country like Spain that stands out for having a good climate, good quality of life, and attractive prices even more important for someone not European, in a country belonging to the EU.
